Our Mission
Helping Americans Fight Unfair Medical Bills
80% of medical bills contain errors. We built Dispute My Medical Bill to give every patient the knowledge and tools to challenge unfair charges — completely free.
Our Story
Dispute My Medical Bill was born from a simple frustration: the American medical billing system is broken, and patients are the ones who pay the price. Every year, millions of Americans receive medical bills riddled with errors — duplicate charges, upcoded procedures, services never rendered, and prices that bear no relationship to the actual cost of care.
The information to fight these bills exists, but it is scattered across government websites, legal databases, and academic papers. Hospital charity care programs go unadvertised. State-specific protections are buried in statute books. The No Surprises Act and Hospital Price Transparency Rule give patients powerful rights, but most people don't know they exist.
We created this site to change that. Our goal is to take the knowledge that patient advocates, healthcare attorneys, and billing specialists use every day and put it into the hands of ordinary patients — in plain language, with actionable steps, and at no cost.
Every article on this site is researched using primary sources: the Code of Federal Regulations, state statutes, CMS guidelines, and published hospital financial assistance policies. We cite specific laws by name and section number. We provide real dollar amounts, real deadlines, and real phone numbers. We don't deal in vague advice — we give you the exact scripts to use when you call the billing department.
